Today is the first day of school!
Boy, this summer went fast.
I didn’t do nearly as much as I wanted as far as writing or day trips with the kids, but I did have a few fun weekends over the last 8 weeks. This weekend, the kids and I went to a “Comic Con” at a library!
The Anderson County Library in South Carolina is huge! We were blown away by the size of the library and the amount of people that showed up. It was loads of fun and filled with people dressed up as their favorite characters, whether sci-fi , comic, or game characters. They also had some vendors. The kids picked up drinking glasses with emblems etched in them. My son bought a Mortal Kombat glass, and my daughter bought a Serenity glass (yay!).
I tried to explain to my kids that yes, this is busy and crowded, but just imagine 55,000 more people milling around in costumes in the middle of downtown Atlanta and a building full of vendors! I was talking about Dragon Con , of course. Dragon Con is my new favorite way to spend Labor Day weekend. This will be my fourth year of attending and volunteering. There is so much to see and enjoy, and my favorite part? Everybody is so accepting of one another.
You’ll be hearing more about Dragon Con as it gets closer and I will have loads of pics after I go. I love meting the authors there and listening to them at the panels. There is also a writer’s track and a fun favorite of mine: the Walk of Fame! The Walk of Fame is where you can meet famous actors and chat with them or get their autographs. I had my picture taken with Adam Baldwin (Jayne in Firefly & Serenity and also in the show Chuck) a few years ago and met Ralph Macchio, Gi Gi Edgely, Natalia Tena (Tonks from Harry Potter) and I have seen Ron Glass, Lou Ferrigno, and many more celebrities.
Anyway, I know this has nothing to do with herbs. I will come up with something new this week for you.
Until then, have a great day!
