"I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars, because of the way this supernatural romance story unfolded itself naturally. It was also not predictable, even at times quite shockingly unexpected, such as Donald’s ties to the people in the present. The description of the rituals and the spells that Kat and Jess performed were not too drawn out in every detail and also not too dense. The spells gave a nice magical touch to the story line and I much appreciated it as it is rather difficult to make poems that rhyme, which spells are on a grammatical level...
The story is a good mix of the supernatural, especially regarding witchcraft, and romance. It will be much appreciated by romance novel readers who like their romantic stories in a supernatural setting. The title of the story refers to the concept that the soul is tethered to the body by a cord during astral travels. In the note about the author it is stated that the author is already working on two sequels to The Silver Cord. I am looking forward to these sequels, especially to what and how Kat will answer to an insightful question her daughter asked her about witches." "J.C. Mead did a great job on this book. It kind of starts out like some others with leaving a bad life behind for a new one, however this author took you for turns and twists, from witchcraft to old Scottish soldiers, it was great! Kat and Jess are great characters with a great group of support characters that make this a fabulous book. Hoping for a next book!"

"Very well written with a captivating story line. I love the blending of real places and historical elements with a modern story. Many mystical elements and practices engage together to create a unique paranormal story and experience."
"What a wonderful read. Love, magic, ghosts, history and humor. A great recipe for a good book. Looking forward to book number 2."

"Holy Hecate, this was a great book!
The Silver Cord, by J C Mead, pulled me in right from the start. A northerner moving to the deep south, who by the way, is a widowed Wiccan leaving behind her cheating, dead Catholic/Atheist husband to find a slower pace of life. I immediately felt connected to Kat and the close friendship she has with Jess, even the relationship with their children. These ladies are solitary, honey mead-loving witches who feel they have to hide who they are while living in and finding their way in a highly conservative place.
This is a great story line that goes at a good pace. I literally had a very hard time putting the book down and found myself trying to steal 15 to 20 minutes a couple of times during the day in past couple of days (I do most of my reading at night) just to see what is going to happen next. The story is not predictable, it kept me interested. I even enjoyed the sarcastic humor, precisely placed. There were a few surprises I didn't expect, one was Kat and Jess' neighbor's secret (which I will not reveal here....ya gotta read the book!) Also, it was interesting how the author intertwined the two love interests of Kat's and following Kat's own inner battle of who she loved more to let go. Ahhhh......that's part of the meat of the story....can't give that away.
I'm ready for book 2!!"
"Great story line! Hard to put down, felt like I knew and could relate to the characters , very well written.. hit on all points , sexy romance, suspenseful, comical, mystical and real life struggles. Great read can't wait for the next book."
"Not used to reading paranormal. I found the descriptions of witch lifestyle intermingled with the lifestyle I know really interesting. Enjoyed the romantic aspect. Neat descriptions of motherhood. I love how the kids are always playing and interacting with their mothers. More play than talking with mommy. Pretty realistic when you've got kids to play with. The resolution of the ghost aspect was satisfying. I'll read the sequel!"
"I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Honestly couldn't put it down and I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. I hope JC writes more. This is a great story line. I found myself cheering on all the characters. The way she handled their challenges was very responsible. No eye rolling from me. The supernatural parts were imaginative. Thanks JC. Really enjoyed your book. Looking forward to more."
"This is my first time reading this genre so I wasn't sure if I'd like it. I loved it! Can't wait for the next one!"
"I just want to start off this review by saying I work in a Library, so I read a lot of different books. For me, this book had everything that I like in a story. Mystery, Romance, History, Ghosts and Witches! And it is written very well. One thing a lot of books I read do not do for me is keep me interested from beginning to end and "The Sliver Cord" kept me interested all the way through. I can't wait to see what happens in the sequel."
"Very good paranormal with Witches. Interesting story and characters, Easy read. Enjoyed reading."
