While I am waiting on my first round of edits from my awesome editor, I thought I would discuss the title of my book and what it means. Now this is kind of heavy for early Sunday morning, so grab your coffee.
The Silver Cord is not only the title of the first book in my trilogy, it actually represents something very cool.
In many beliefs, a silver cord tethers your spirit to your body. Much like the umbilical cord that connects a baby to its life source (mother) that is severed when the baby is born, the silver cord connects the spiritual body to the physical body which is severed when the physical body dies.
The concept of a silver cord tethering your spiritual body to your physical body is not a new one. People who experience astral projection - out of body experience - have seen "glue like strings" connecting their body to the drifting spirit. Astral projection was a part of Eastern religions and Egyptian cultures.
The silver cord was also mentioned in the bible:
"Or ever the silver cord be loosed, Or the golden bowl be broken, Or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, Or the wheel broken at the cistern." Ecclesiastes 12:6
For more information, GOOGLE "silver cord", there are many articles written about it - some good and some not so good, but that's the internet for you. There are also many books written on the subject of astral travel or astral projection.
Here is the definition from Wikipedia: Silver Cord
What does this have to do with my book? I guess you'll have to wait and see :)
Have a great week!
