Yes, I write fiction.
Plots, scenes, characters.
I don't like writing academic papers. It feels like I'm back in grad school.
As we speak (or I type), I am sitting in front of my lap top agonizing over verbiage for a white paper that I'm working with 4 other professionals to possibly be published in a journal.
It has citations, and can only be so long, and there are so many restrictions! Trying to be succinct after writing an 83,000 word novel is difficult to say the least.
As you can see, I am writing this blog post. Now, I don't write as often as I should but there's many distractions in my life at the moment so I write when I can manage.
Notice how I would rather write a blog post about the paper than work on the actual paper that needs to be finished by tomorrow.
The group I'm working with unanimously voted me the "EDITOR" of ALL THE PAPERS that have to be smushed into one and make it sound like one person wrote it.
Why?
Because I'm the "writer". I knew that would be used against me!!
I'll get it done, it just needs to be tweaked a bit more to shorten it and I'll be ready for tomorrow's major edit. At least I have a helper!
In other news, I'll be attending Dragon Con again this year. This will be my 5th time and I'm excited as always. Seeing everyone mill around in cosplays of their favorite fandom and taking pictures is the best! Talk about a people watching opportunity!. There are about 70,000 people to watch!
I'll post pictures up as soon as I can and will let you all know how it went. Perhaps one day I can be on a panel and attend as an author.
One last thing before I go back to my paper. I'll be attending the Georgia COMO Conference Author's reception in October. More info on the Events & Links page.
