Happy New Year everyone!
I for one am really looking forward to this year, and am very excited.
My first round of edits will be back from my editor soon and the publishing process will begin!
I wrote The Silver Cord four years ago. It took one year to write and the next three to refine, edit and search for an agent or publisher who loved it as much as I did.
That moment finally came in September of 2014 when I entered a #PitMad contest on Twitter. This is a contest in which authors pitch their book to agents and editors or publishers. The caveat is that it needs to be in 140 characters including the hashtag and the genre. It was not the first pitching event I had entered but it was the first pitch event where I was favorited by an agent AND a senior editor for a publisher. I sent out the query and manuscript and crossed my fingers that this would be it.
It was! I got the email a few weeks later and now I am ready to start the process of editing, choosing cover art and, of course, marketing my book.
I hope you continue to follow me through the publishing process, and in six months, the e book will be available!
A favorite New Year quote from Neil Gaiman:
“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.”
